A poem inspired by breakup stories (part I)

Isn’t it painful
The thought that you were once the most special person
Pupils dilate in response to the sight of you
To be the subject of a sweet dream
The exchange of goodmornings and goodnights
Everything else doesn’t seem to matter
When sweet nothings were whispered
Hands were held in the cold
Promises made to stay till we’re old
Isn’t it painful
The thought of life has gotten in the way
It doesn’t give a chance for happily ever afters
The mind desperately finds reasons why
To fill the voids that were once full with glitter
We were once the definition of glee
How could you do this to me?
Was it another she?
How about me?
The thought that you were once the most special person
Pupils dilate in response to the sight of you
To be the subject of a sweet dream
The exchange of goodmornings and goodnights
Everything else doesn’t seem to matter
When sweet nothings were whispered
Hands were held in the cold
Promises made to stay till we’re old
Isn’t it painful
The thought of life has gotten in the way
It doesn’t give a chance for happily ever afters
The mind desperately finds reasons why
To fill the voids that were once full with glitter
We were once the definition of glee
How could you do this to me?
Was it another she?
How about me?
